thursday 10@ update

Quite a bit has happened in the past week or two so I decided I should update everyone now.

1. Last Friday night Burns left me for his brother.

He's in Fort McMurray installing alarm systems for the summer with his brother, Luke. *Sigh*. We went to Denny's a little bit before he left and they were having a chocolate/peanut butter bonanza going on! I hope it's still going on cause there were a few more things I wanted to try. I got the pancakes with peanut butter and chocolate sauce. It was good.

2. I own a car!

Because Burns needed a new car for the job, I paid for the repairs on this baby and now I own a retired cop car! For those of you who have ridden in this thing when Burns was the owner, it is now a lot cleaner and it will stay that way haha.

3. I went to a YSA dance the night Burns left with Lita courtesy of Marshie.

We went out with Marshie and Carol afterwards to The Chocolate Bar. It was alright. I think the ice-cream just threw me off. Plus also our waiter didn't know what he was doing. He gave me the feeling that he and the other man in there had just murdered the owners of the store and they were pretending to be the owners so that we wouldn't be suspicious. Ask Marshall, Carol, or Lita. They know what I'm talking about.

4. Last Saturday I quit this job:

5. For this job:

Yes, that's right. I am back to house cleaning full time. This little box of treasure is located in one of our client's bathrooms. So presh. I will miss freezing inside a greenhouse and walking through freak hail storms, which cause roads to become rivers, to get to work.

6. On Sunday evening I was invited to a bonfire at Bowness Park.

This little gem...

...turned into this bigger gem:

I had a pretty decent time.

7. I want this cat:

Rexxie the Devon Rex cat. She's awesome and hypoallergenic.

8. But all in all I'm glad I own this cutie:

He lights up my life.

9. I saved a life yesterday.

This spider was in a bathtub I was cleaning and I decided to not kill it or wash it down the drain. It was pretty cute.

It reminded me of this meme:

10. I'm graduating on Tuesday!!!!

Burns will most likely not be able to make it to my ceremony but he's going to try really hard to make it down on Saturday to celebrate with me.

I think this is going to be a good summer.

a sunday adventurer's life for me

On Sunday it was my turn to decide where the fam should explore for our weekly Sunday adventure. I chose Bowmont's Waterfall Valley.

Here's Nitty leading us down the path to the natural springs.

Right close to COP but you would never guess that once you were in the trees.

Navy kept watching Kobe. She said, "buh...buh" trying to say, "puppy". Sooo cuteee!

Our first encounter with one of the natural springs. We were just fascinated!

One of the reasons this park is so cool is that there was a wooden path all the way down to the river!

I don't know what's going on here but their expressions are pretty priceless:

Uncle Daryn with Naves:

At the river:

Marshie jumping across the stream. Crazy boy.

Alex and Nitty splashing in the stream that Marshie just jumped across.

Getting a little too comfy there on those stairs.

Kobe!

Marshie and I climbed a rock close to the path. It was seriously the most perfect rock for rock climbing!

Joe panning for gold:

Aaaaaand what would a nature walk be without a little wildlife?

I love being able to play with my family every weekend! I definitely look forward to Sundays :D

strawberry shortcake kabobs

Today I am going to teach you how to make Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs. You will need the following:

Instructions:

Firstly make your golden yellow cake. Well...I used golden yellow cake because I already had a box of it lying around. I'm not sure if that's the cake in strawberry shortcake but it turned out delish! When the cake has finished with its baking, cut the cake into little squares that you think would fit on a kabob stick nicely.

Wash and cut up some strawberries. Make the pieces big enough to fit onto a kabob stick.

Order = strawberry, cake cube, strawberry, cake cube. You can try all kinds of different orders iffins you like! Mix it up! Why not?

Lay your SSKabobs on tinfoil, parchment paper, or something you don't mind cleaning chocolate off of later. I used a cookie sheet.

Melt your chocolate. I used Hershey's Dessert Fondue chocolate. It was aaaammaaaaazing! It's a little on the "I can't afford this crap" side of things to be sided with, so perhaps you would like to try something cheaper. My roomie suggested Toblerone bars melted in half-and-half cream. That sounds real nice, too. Or just use good ol' chocolate chips.

The instructions on the Hershey's box told me to melt the chocolate in cream but I didn't have any so I used milk. Turned out just fine.

Aaaanyways. Drizzle your melted chocolate all over them thangs and you got yourself a fan-freakin-tastic dessert that will look like you put a lot of effort into making but really you didn't! Your company will go wild! No company you say? Relax! Your tastebuds will go wild!

Sooo good!

10 on wednesday

1. I'm working at Sunnyside. The first week was really slow, but last week picked up a bit because of Mother's Day and this week is even more busy because of the BEAUTIFUL weather. Feel free to come visit me, but maybe not this week because it's crazy in there!

2. Burns is back to working for Rick. He's also doing a few jobs with another garage floor company.

3. I still haven't heard back from UofA so I guess I'm still on the waiting list.

4. My convocation is June 5th!!!

5. I reeeeeaaallly want to go camping. I have yet to go without a parental figure there.

6. I guess I should start looking for an SLPA job soon (speech-language pathologist assistant) just in case I don't get accepted into grad school.

7. On Sunday Kutarnas, Biebers, Marshie, Carol, Burns, and I all went out to Big Rock to enjoy the sun, each other's company, and the big rock out in the middle of a field. I can't wait for next Sunday!

8. The sun is setting later which means I'm not as tired at 9:00pm which means I want to stay up later! The only problem is that the sun comes up sooner so at 6:00am my whole room is filled with light. But I love it.

9. When I went to get my teeth cleaned before my trip to Utah, the dentist took an X-ray and told me that my wisdom teeth need to be extracted before I turn 24. I was hoping that they would just never come through my gums and I could pretend that they didn't exist. If I don't get them out, they will cause some major problems even if they never cut through my gums.

10. The best thing about working at Sunnyside? New friends! This year there are sooo many new cashiers and they're all so awesome!

oooootah

For my graduation present to myself, I decided that Burns and I should go to Utah to visit his brothers. I think I picked a good present because I had a GREAT time!

We found two girls to come down with us, Kristen and Lita, to save some moneys. Kobe came too! He snuggled with the girls in the back seat the entire drive down. We left on April 25th (right after I finished my last final exam) to spend the night in Raymond. We left early in the morning the next day, dropped Kristen off in Rexburg, and continued to Logan to drop Lita off.

We had Cafe Rio with Lita before we dropped her off, and let me tell you, it was DIVINE!!! I don't think I could ever come close to matching its awesomeness. Even Lita is hooked now...aren't you Lita (not meant as a question, but rather a polite but forceful statement).

Right after we dropped Lita off, we went up to the Logan temple grounds. That temple is so cool! It's the one that looks like a castle. We then walked around on a little path close by. It was pretty cold there, but the sun finally came out for our little walk. We then drove down to South Weber to invade Matt and Steph's house for three days.

Kobe in Logan
After a rest filled night (well, at least for Burns - I had Kobe) we woke up the next morning to a relatively warmer day. Matt made us some great breakfast burritos and then Burns, Matt, little Rhett, Rhett's little cousin, and I all went on a little walk by a river. Matt brought his throwing knives which Burns mastered in a matter of minutes.

Burns and Matt throwing knives into a tree.
We ate at Pizza Pie (I think that's what it was called?) for lunch. Apparently we couldn't miss out on this place. The slices were huge! When we got back, Matt got Buddy out so he could stretch his legs and get some fresh air. He's so cool.

Buddy the desert tortoise.
Sam came over to visit and, man, these guys are just hilarious when they're all together. I don't think I stopped laughing pretty much the entire time we were down.

Steph playing Wii.

Steph was busy being a great mom playing Wii with Rhett because nobody else would. Awwww.

Rhett got out "Break the Ice"! I loved that game as a kid. I won against Burns and then Burns won against Sam.

That night we decided to go to "Airborne". I loved this place. It is a gymnasium full of trampolines! Just take a look:

Burns, Steph, Rhett, Capri, and I all went in. Matt and Sam just watched. I had so much fun! This was just one more thing that Burns was really, really good at.

This is Burns being daring and front flipping over this hurdle:

This is Burns' double front flip:

This is me doing a back flip all by myself. I've done them before when I was younger but I needed help back then...I still need someone by my side haha.

We watched Iron Man 2 that night. On Saturday we all headed over to City Creek Mall. Before we got there we noticed a Japanese festival, so we walked through it. It was honestly the nerdiest experience I have ever...experienced... There were people dressed up as Pokemon having battles, and much, much more.

This is me giving Pedo Bear a hug. I don't know much about this character but I'm afraid to look given his name.

At the mall I looked in the store Solomon for some hiking boots and found a really great pair, but I think it will be cheaper if I get them elsewhere so I didn't purchase them. We went in a couple other stores, but everything was pretty expensive. Matt and Steph then left (they had dropped the kids off earlier) to enjoy their anniversary together, so it was just Burns, Sam, and me left. We went into the games store and found these babies.

This one is dedicated to Arianne:
A game where you add a caption to tell what happened right after the picture was taken.

This next game is dedicated to Burns:

We then went to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I got the peanut butter cup, Sam got a rocky road type one, and Burns got the apple pie one. If you ever get a chance to have the apple pie, go for it! It's so good! We all shared each others and could hardly finish them. Plus also they always cut the apples up in the states for you. They should do that all the time here too.

We then headed over to the planetarium where Burns was in heaven the whole time.

This was a scaling of size compared to the Sun.

Burns on Mars.

On the Moon.

Me on Mars.
Then we went to Cafe Rio!

Burns and Sam

We watched Thor that night.

Sunday morning we all got ready for church. This is Capri being so cute:

This is Capri being so wiggly during Sacrament:

Okay that sacrament meeting I couldn't stop laughing. First off, Matt kept making words up for the opening hymn so I burst into fits of laughter. Then during the opening prayer, it was so quiet and Capri ripped 3/4 of a page out of the hymn book. Then Matt made more words up for the intermediate and closing hymns. We're so reverent.

When we got back to Matt and Steph's, Matt got Buddy out again. The weather was a lot nicer and the dogs could just not leave him alone!

Curious Georgie

We couldn't leave Utah without going on a hike, so Burns, Matt, Sam, and I hopped in the car and drove 5 mins to Adam's Canyon.

Georgie and Kobe came too. It was so beautiful there!

Sam carrying Matt up the hill.
Other hikers passed us and one lady had a dog that looked like Peiko. Kobe went crazy trying to get to her, but the lady was carrying her dog.

Lady with Peiko dog and Kobe going crazy. Sam climbed a tree.
We passed a nice little waterfall area so we decided to explore a little.

Boonie.

Me.

We got to the main waterfall roughly an hour after we began.

While Matt was taking pictures of Burns and me, he tried to make us kiss. Good try Matt. Little does he know that Arianne tries to get us to kiss on a regular basis. We don't do that.

Here is the waterfall and some crazy yet triumphant guy standing in the on pour.

I hate asking strangers to take my picture because they just don't know what I want in the background. Plus he must have thought that I looked pretty dang good in this picture to not take another one.

Yay waterfall!

On our way back down the mountain:

It was weird hiking for a couple hours and then being home within 5 mins. I'm used to driving an hour or so to get home.

Matt and Steph made us a divine dinner and the Harris' Aunt Nancy came by for a visit. We then watched Captain America. Now I'm all set to see The Avengers!

The next morning we left for home. These two cuties were so nice the whole time we were there.

Rhett and Capri
We went to Logan to pick up Lita and we found Sister Basi there! Just kidding. I phoned her mother for Angela's address and we stopped by to say "hi". We picked up Lita and we went on our way.

Burns randomly pulled over in Idaho to climb this monument.

We then stopped at the "marching trees" in Montana and walked out to meet the leader.

Marching Trees

Walking to the leader.

Beautiful skies.

The leader.

Not gonna lie, I love the different country side we saw, but it was so nice to be on flat land in Alberta. I get a little claustrophobic in the mountains and hilly areas sometimes.

Thanks Matt, Steph, and Sam for the amazing time! We love you guys!
