baby come back

Well friends, looks like Paige and Burns has been whittled down to just Paige this weekend while Burns plays with his family down in Utah. But don't despair! Paige will not be all alone! She has her great roomie Brian and her brand new great roomie Chris! :D sooo happy! Oh and Peiko and Kobe. Let us not forget those rambunctious little creatures! And also Icarus. Can't forget that little guy swimmin' around all day.

About the only thing that will get me through the weekend without my man.....is my man's cop car, graciously loaned to me until he returns. One day I will have me one of those driving machines....one day.

Anyways here are some pictures of what has been happening in my life lately.

Burns and I actually studied together for once in our lives. Here is a picture of Burns studying for his physics test:

Man I know I say this excessively, but I sure do have some attractive men in my life!

So Brian and I were out getting some hot chocolate when we came across this handsome devil:

What can we say? We have a thing for bronze, armless, legless, headless men waiting for the bus in -30 degree weather with nothing but shorts and a wife beater on.

And here is Brian's cute little (emphasis on the little) pup named Peiko!

Last weekend Boonie, Daryanne, and I went down to Raytown for the weekend to participate in Lethbridge's annual Moonlight Run!

Here is Daryn launching clay pigeons:

And here is Boon shooting the lifelessness out of those clay pigeons:
Daryn shot a real gun too! Didn'tcha Daryn!

This is Burns' supportive face when he knows I am just about to run 6 km:

We were just so young and naive....happy and smiling like that....

Can you see me?

Six kilometers later and this picture describes perfectly how I felt:

Curse that hill. I'll be more prepared next year. In the mean time, I'll be reading inspirational and fun blogs about the Moonlight Run to help me in my relationships and in running up and down huge hills - 'cause we all know that happens every day.

random thoughts

Since I haven't posted anything in a while I guess I will just tell you maybe some random things that happened this week/will be happening soon/cool stuff.

- I am currently working on a project for my Psycholinguistics course on Working Memory.

- The lovely Christine Lyons died my hair darker on the 12th and I LOVE it! Maybe I will actually fit in with my sisters now.

- Today I figured out the length of my vocal tract for an extra credit assignment in Phonetics. I estimated it to be 31.1 cm long. If you want to know the approximate length of YOUR vocal tract then come on over! I would be happy to oblige.

- The lovely Christine Lyons mentioned above will soon be moving in with Breanne and me!!!! I am sooooo excited about this!

- The moonlight run is THIS weekend! And I'm excited to spend time with the fam in Raytown.

-People are really upset about this daylight savings thing...it actually makes me happy because now it's sunnier longer :)

- I learned today that 'this' and 'that' can only be used in certain contexts.
Imagine you are explaining a situation to an audience and you say either sentence 1. or 2.
1. I was talking to my friend and suddenly this guy comes out of nowhere...
This is a perfectly acceptable sentence in English.
2. # I was talking to my friend and suddenly that guy comes out of nowhere...
This does not make sense in English. One would ask, "What guy?"
(# - semantic anomaly...meaning semantically this sentence doesn't make sense but syntactically it does)
The only way 2. would make semantic sense is if you were pointing to 'that' guy. Otherwise, people will question whether you are from around here.

This linguistics jargon probably didn't make a whole lot of sense to you, so I will tell you that there is an intro course to linguistics offered this spring at the UofC! If you take it, you and I can pretend we are really smart and talk linguistics. Plus also you'll know what I'm talking about.

-I have a job starting in May :D

- I will be taking the intro course to Speech Pathology in the spring! YAY

- On Sunday Breanne and Marshie made dinner..and since my plans for dinner fell through, they invited me to join them and it was SOOOOoooo good! GANKS GUYS!

That is all. I hope you learned something today ;)
