update

1. On February 15th I attended Alyssa Lamb's bachelorette party at Boston Pizza. A fake moustache always means good times were had:

2. The next morning I went to her house to do her wedding makeup! I wish I took a before pic. Oh well. She's gorgeous either way and I'm so happy for her and Brant. Those two are going to have some pretty tall babies.

Alyssa also wanted me to do Shannon's makeup too - she's Brant's little sister. I plucked her eyebrows for her and man was she tough! She'd never had them done before and she hardly flinched. What a beauty.

3. That night I caught a ride with the lovely Christine Lyons down to Raytown. Right when I got there Kutarnas were just leaving the house to go to O-sho. I couldn't resist. Brad and Cassi met us there and we had some pretty great conversation about Dragon Ball Z. Just ask Cassi...and Alex...and Joe.

We had a great Sunday dinner as usual and then I fell asleep from 6pm to 8am. On Monday Kutarnas left and I waited for Christine to be finished with her shenanigans so we could head home. Mom and Dad took me out for some pretty delicious gluten free pizza at Top Pizza. It's quite the hidden gem. Then I went to visit Grandma B and had a wonderful chat (not even lying).

4. That night Burns gave me my belated Valentine's present:

Chocolate overload! I think I gained 5 pounds from this alone.

5. The next day (Tuesday) Haillee invited Burns and me to her family's goodbye dinner for her at Nick's Restaurant. She is now living happily in New Zealand for the next 4 to 6 months. I miss her already. Great company and fan-freakin-tastic steak! Wow!

6. This is Molly:

Burns and I see her around sometimes and we love her. She's a funny kitty.

7: You know these things?

Well there was once a challenge to cut the specially marked tops off of 8 of these bags and send them in to the company in Ontario. In return they would send two Cineplex movie passes. I did this wondering if they would stay true to their word and guess what:

I got those theatre tickets!

8. Arianne and Daryn are having a GIRL! I thought for sure they were going to have a boy (they still could) but I'm so excited! I love my little nieces so much and this one will be no exception!

9. Marshie and Carol got engaged on February 23rd! I'm so happy for them!!! I guess I'll never have a little sister (unless Brad or Sam marries someone younger than me) but there is always room for older sisters! Congrats you two!

10. Burns had to cut his luscious locks today. I almost cried.

Sporting a little mullet.

So sad.

Before and after.

Poor Boonie.

We wanted his hair long for at least our engagement pictures but his parents gave him an ultimatum: cut you hair or move out. Since he can't afford to move out he decided to cut it. Good thing he is so handsome either way. Don't worry folks, once we're married he'll be free to grow his hair as long as he pleases. This is not the last you've seen of long haired Burns (hopefully)!

i love love

Valentine's Day.

I spent the actual evening with my friend, Haillee. We went out to eat at Cheesecake Cafe while Burns had his own little study date with his friend (he had a midterm the next day). We wanted to go to Lloyd's Roller Rink right after dinner but they were closed to the public for an exercise group. On all the days I thought it would be open, Valentine's was the day. But no. So Haillee headed home and I picked Burns up from the school.

Burns and I actually celebrated V-day on the 13th. While he was writing his midterm that night, I decorated his room with balloons, garlands, and Valentine lights. I did all his laundry and I also made him a candy gram minus all the candy. I tried to get mostly healthier choices or at least food that he would eat for a snack or a meal.

When he was done writing his exam, I picked him up and we watched a little American Idol with his mom. During a commercial I told him to go downstairs with me. He noticed red light gleaming from his room so he went in there and was completely surprised! He was speechless and he sure loved it. He showed his mom what I had done and she went nuts over it too. It was fun putting it all together but the most fun was surprising Boonie.

Now, I'm stealing this idea from Nicole's blog because I thought it was so cute.

What love is to me.

love is
friendship but stronger
easier and harder
all at once

love is
yelling, whispers, and talking
in a car
until 2:00am

love is
fighting to tears
misunderstandings
and smiling in the end

love is
accomplishment
pride in not only the big things
but the little things too

love is
a mixture of two lives
a roller coaster of the strongest emotions
but so steady
...
oh so steady

Sure Burns can be the most annoying thing on the planet in my point of view sometimes, but he is mostly the most wonderful thing. He is so patient with me, so truthful, and so loving. We have so much in common and so little, but we can celebrate our differences and not let them destroy us. I love how much he loves nature, I love his talents, and I love that he loves me. We've been together for four years and I still can't believe how much my love keeps growing for him every day. Keep it up my lovely husband-to-be cause you sure are doing something right! Happy belated Valentine's Day to everyone!

devonian gardens

Last week I decided it was time to go out on a date with Burns. I had wanted to go to the Devonian Gardens a few years ago but they closed down for renovations. They opened up again a few months ago so I wanted to visit! I picked Burns up from school and told him we were going out. I thought we could just drive down but he thought to take the C-train. Fine by me! I love taking the train with Boonie.

We got some dinner at the Core food court then we wandered over to the gardens where we found a lovely koi fish pond and some flowers down the lane.

We we so excited.

The wall of plants:

Couple a'jokers right therr...

He's a model if you know what I mean:

Grassssssssssssssssssss...

Some guy came by with a budgie. We took some pictures and he asked for some change.

We went to the playground after that and climbed across the climbing wall.

Burns serenaded all those in the gardens with his sweet piano skills. The two of us then played a duet together.

Some lady told us that we made her evening. I love when that happens. Such a great, inexpensive date! I'd like to go back again soon. Sunday strollin' anyone?
