a grand visit for grad

I don't know if anyone knows this but I love my darling Boonie. He couldn't make it to my graduation ceremony (don't worry, I'll blog about that soon) but he flew down from Fort McMurray to spend the entire weekend with me prior to my ceremony!

My weekend with Burns began on the night he flew in. It was Friday night and Luke and Burns arrived in Calgary at about 12:15am (so I guess it was actually Saturday morning). I rode with Denise to pick them up and Kobe couldn't wait to see his best friend. I hadn't seen that boy for a week because he has been in For Mac so I was pretty excited to see him myself. Aaaand since I won't see him for a whole month, I decided to get as much time in with him as possible, so we stayed up talking in his car for a few hours after Luke was dropped off. Then we decided to go to Denny's at 3:00 in the morn.

We walk in. The following is not word for word but this is mostly how I remember it happening.

Host: We don't serve your kind anymore.
Burns: Back of the bus I guess.

Host seats us...Burns and I feeling weird about what the host said. Enter Waiter who never looks as Burns or Paige.

Waiter: Any alcoholic beverages for you tonight?
Burns: No, no alcohol, we're good.
Paige: I'll get some hot chocolate.
Waiter: Whipped cream on that?
Paige: Yeah that would be good.
Waiter: Interesting...
Burns: I'll get some Coke.

Waiter leaves and comes back with drinks.

Waiter: Are you ready to order?
Paige: Yeah I'll get the bacon lover's BLT.
Waiter: Oh good, I thought you were going to order a Build-Your-Own-Pancake.
Paige: No, no, BLT is good.
Waiter: What kind of bread? (Waiter lists breads)
Paige: Rye please.
Waiter: Interesting...
Burns orders.

By then I was feeling highly annoyed with our waiter's tone and how he was treating us and some of the weird things he had said to us. And what was so dang interesting about my order?! Burns suggested it may be that he was annoyed with the table of teenagers a few tables over. He then came back a bit later after he had given us our food.

Waiter: You guys are awfully sober for 3:30 in the morning...I guess I'll have to watch what I say and pay more attention to you.

Uuuuhhhh....yeah. Thanks Buddy.

It was a beautiful morning when we got out though haha.

Calgary 4:30am.
The next day I cleaned a house in Airdrie so I was really exhausted. I went over to Burns' house and had a nice nap to get ready for the surprise Burns has been excited to give me for about a month. We took the C-Train downtown.

This was my surprise!

This was the first thing we saw when we walked in:

Outside of the theatre.

Before we left Burns' house, Kobe scratched me. Yes, I'm sure it was Kobe.

On Sunday we decided to go to a family ward with Luke and Mandi. While we were waiting, we decided to give Burns and little trim:

And apparently I am dating Batman.

Kudos to Luke for such great artwork!

After church we went to Big Hill Springs for another Sunday adventure with my fam. More on that to come.

I had such a great weekend! I felt like I fell in love with Burns all over again without ever falling out of love. Sorry for the sap but this is my journal haha.

  1. Congrats on your graduation! I know you must of worked so hard for that.

P.S. Can I just say that I have never been to Denny's? Is the host and waiter always so weird like that there? Wow. And I had no idea that people actually are served breakfast that early in the morning there. Amazing! 3:00 am is my daily bed time. Maybe I should check this place out sometime.....or not.....I'll chat with you about which Denny's NOT to go when I do. lol.

    Anyway.....HAppy GRAD!

  2. Haha, Burns looks like he has a belly ring in that last photo. And now that you've scrolled back up and looked at it wouldn't you agree? I don't know what the vertigo theatre thing actually is, so I'll just take your word for it that it was a good thing. Happy Grad!

What Denny's were you at?? I'm pretty sure I'd be that weird too if I had to work the night shift at Denny's. haha
